JAMMU, Oct 16: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh, today released a book titled ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ authored by Engineer Suniya Gupta at a function held here this morning.
Chief Conservator of Forests, Farooq Gillani, besides a large number of poets, writers and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Lal Singh said that writers play a vital role in educating the society about the Government schemes and initiatives meant for their socio-economic welfare besides acquainting younger generation with their rich culture and heritage besides age old traditions through their literature.
The Minister said that India, an ancient country with rich cultural heritage and incredible history, always kept the women at a high and respectful place and treated her as Shakti i.e. energy of every individual. He said that women are really backbone of a society and deserve to be treated as the equal contributor towards nation’s progress and prosperity. He said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, realizing the need of women empowerment for a flourished society launched several innovative schemes envisaging women emancipation besides revamping the existing women related development plans.
In her address, Suniya Gupta informed about the contents of the book saying that “Save the Girl Child” is a social initiative in India to fight against the practice of female feticide. She said this book would serve as an addition to the efforts of all of us and the Government towards promoting the interests of girl child and empowering them for good of their community and hence the society.
