JAMMU, June 4: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Choudhary Lal Singh today said the Government has sanctioned Rs.1.32 crore under district plan for construction of Primary Health Centre (PHC) building at Mahanpur.
The work on the project is under progress on war-footing and will be completed within prescribed timeframe by R&B Department, the Minister said, adding that with the functioning of PHC the rush of patients in Trauma Hospital in Mahanpur and District Hospital Kathua would reduce to a large extent.
The Minister was addressing a large gathering after inspecting the Ayush (ISM) and Allopathic healthcare and infrastructural facilities being provided to the people at Trauma Hospital in Mahanpur.
Ex-MLA Kanta Andotra, Director General Indian System of Medicines Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Manmohan Singh, Director Health Services Dr. Baljeet Pathania, Director Family Welfare Dr. Baldev Sharma, Mission Director National Health Mission, Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, Project Director AIDS Control Society Dr. Mohan Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Basohli Gurmukh Singh besides Deputy Director Health Services, Chief Medical Officers, Block Medical Officers, engineers of R&B, PDD, PHE, I&FC, Sarpanchs and Panchs of the Basohli and Mahanpur town were present on the occasion.
Ch Lal Singh said that 98% people of the country are exclusively dependent on Government hospitals for healthcare and 2% on private hospitals. He said this is particularly higher in remote areas and Government is making all endeavors to equip all the far-off health institutions with adequate manpower and infrastructure.
He informed that in the three months tenure of the PDP-BJP Government, 2200 hospitals in Kashmir and 1800 hospitals in Jammu have been upgraded with manpower and infrastructural facilities to provide quality medicare to the ailing. He further said that efforts are on to equip left out NTPHC and Sub-Centers in remote areas with manpower and infrastructure facilities at par with city hospitals.
The Minister directed the ISM and Allopathic authorities to stock medicines in the Trauma Hospital Mahanpur as per the requirement.
Taking serious note of stock of medicines laying unused in the hospital, the Minister noted it with concern that much of these have expired. In this regard he ordered enquiry into the matter and asked the Chief Medical Officer Kathua to submit the report within three days as ‘why stocks of medicines are laying unused in the hospital”.
The Minister asked the hospital functionaries to provide free treatment and medicines to the patients and do not force them to purchase medicines from open market.
The Minister also took serious notice of damage caused to Rs 30 lakh newly purchased hospital furniture like operation theatre trolleys, dressing stool, steel benches, patient beds, bed side lockers, foot step, stretcher trolley, which has been kept by the management on the roof of the hospital to rot in rains and hot weather.
In this regard, Ch Lal Singh ordered enquiry and asked the Director Health Services to submit the report within a week. He also directed him to supply the hospital furniture in other hospitals of the Kathua district as per requisition to save it from further damages due to rains.
Later at Dhani in Basohli, the Minister met with several deputations and listened to their demands which included regular drinking water supply to the village, renovation of lanes and drains, uninterrupted power supply, construction of drinking water storage tank, Making OT functional at Trauma Hospital, Mahanpur and posting of Gynecologist and Dental Surgeon in Trauma Hospital, Mahanpur.
Ch Lal Singh gave a patient hearing to the deputations and assured them that the projected problems would be redressed on priority basis. He appealed the people to open their account by Rs 1 per month under Accidental Insurance scheme- Pradhan Mantri Bima Yonja launched by Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi.
