KATHUA, May 7: Continuing its efforts against drug menace under the “Operation Sanjeevani”, J&K police seized 3.10 grams of heroin (Chitta) narcotics in the jurisdictional area of Police Post (PP), Marheen at Khanpur area on Monday. One lady drug peddler was arrested one Mobile Phone and cash amount of Rs. 15,670/ besides 3.10 grams of heroin was recovered from her.
Police said an information was received through the reliable sources at PP Marheen on Monday that one lady namely Asha Bibi, wife of Mohammad Sadiq of Khanpur tehsil, Marheen district Kathua was doing illegal trade of narcotics and kept a huge quantity of narcotics substance in her possession which she was trying to sell to the people of Khanpur area as well as its adjoining areas of PP Marheen.
Police said acting swiftly, a team led by Incharge PP Marheen under the supervision of SDPO Border and SHO PS Rajbagh laid down a special naka at Khanpur area and apprehended the lady namely Asha Bibi wife of Mohammad Sadiq of Khanpur Tehsil Marheen district Kathua.
During checking approx. 3.10 grams of heroin(Chitta) narcotics, cash amount of Rs. 15670, and one Mobile Phone were recovered from her illegal possession. Thereafter all the recovered narcotics along with cash amount Rs. 15670 and one Mobile Phone were seized and lady drug peddler was arrested on spot. In this regard a case vide FIR No. 104/2024 U/S’s 8/21/22/NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rajbagh while further investigation is underway, police said.
District Police Kathua has once again requested people of the area to come forward and share information on 100 or 9858034100 about any such illicit activity with police. The identity of the person giving such information will be kept confidential, police added.
