JAMMU, July 1: A lady was crushed to death by a tractor trolley in Gujjar Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Peer Mitha police station. However, acting swiftly, police arrested the accused driver.
As per police sources, a rashly driven tractor trolley bearing registration number JK02AX-5299 hit a scooty near Gujjar Nagar, causing serious injuries to the woman, who was driving the scooty.
After hitting the scooty, the driver speed up the vehicle and after parking the vehicle in the middle of the river Tawi tried to escape, but was arrested by the police.
The profusely bleeding girl was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors pronounced her as brought dead.
The body has been shifted to mortuary of GMC Hospital for postmortem, which will be conducted tomorrow.
The decesead has been identified as Poonam, wife of Parshotam Singh of Paloura. The accused driver was also arrested.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Peer Mitha police station and investigation started.
