JAMMU, July 1: All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association has expressed serious concern over low start of Shri Amarnath Yatra this year as the number of devotees performing the pilgrimage this year during first four days is much less than the corresponding days during the previous year.
A meeting of the Association was held here today under the chairmanship of its president Inderjeet Khajuria wherein non seriousness and mismanagement on part of the Government authorities were held responsible for not picking up the yatra this year. There is lack of coordination among various official agencies connected with the pilgrimage and we smell some mysterious hidden hand to flop the Yatra, the Association members alleged, adding that no meeting of the stake holders in the Yatra, including trade bodies, social and voluntary organizations was convened this year by the Divisional Commissioner to seek their suggestions for promotion and smooth conduct of Yatra.
The Association also found fault with Baba Amarnath Yatra Nayas for not taking on board the business organizations who are stake holders in the pilgrimage, while coordinating with SASB and the official agencies in conduct of Yatra.
Listing other reasons, which discouraged the yatris, AJHLA complained of cumbersome process of obtaining medical and health clearance certificate by the pilgrims, lack of proper facilities at the currant registration centres in Jammu city, Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas, non clearance of snow in time on the Pahalgam route, etc.
Those who attended the meeting included Ajay Gupta, H S Manhas, Pawan Gupta, Baldev Raj, Vikram Singh, Sunil Suri and others.
