Ladakh MP calls on Dr Jitendra Singh

NEW DELHI, June 19: Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Member of Parliament from Ladakh called on Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State in PMO with Independent charge of North Eastern States, here, today and discussed the issue of non functional of DSPTs in various villages of Ladakh region.
He also submitted a letter to Minister in this regard. In his letter, MP has highlighted that DSPT services provided by BSNL all over the Jammu and Kashmir State including 338 DSPTs were working in Leh SSA which includes 68 DSPTs of Kargil district. But they have stopped working since May 13 this year after transponder of satellite NSS was switched off and all the DSPTs are affected.
He emphasized that for restoration of DSPT services, migration to other satellites will be required but the BSNL Circle Office at Jammu and Kashmir have no information regarding further strategies of BSNL for revival of the DSPT services. MP Ladakh further brought to the notice of the Government that the residents of the most backward villages of the far-flung areas like Zanskar, Chorbatla, Barso and Ichu of Kargil district and Changthang, Shaam, Nubra and Singay Lalok villages of Leh district in Ladakh including Army posts of border areas facing lot of hardships in absences of the DSPT services.
Jamyang Tsering requested the Minister for his active intervention to make the revival of the DSPT Services at the earliest possible.
