JAMMU, Mar 28: Labour Commissioner, Vipra Bhal today held a meeting of various stakeholders for adoption of Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) in favour of workers as per Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
During the meeting workers/ employees representatives viz. BMS, CITU, AITUC, National Front of India Trade Union Federation etc. reiterated the demand of workers for adoption of VDA in the State as majority of States of the country have already added VDA component to the minimum rates of wages notified in the scheduled employments.
It was stressed by the employer and employees side both to adopt the Variable Dearness Allowance VDA system in the State as early as possible at par with neighboring states like Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi etc.
It may be recalled that in 2014 J&K Government constituted a committee consisting of employer as well as employee side headed by the Labour Commissioner, J&K to implement the VDA in the State.
