LAB declares intensification of agitation for Statehood

LEH, Sept 22: Leh Apex Body (LAB) member Chering Dorjay today said that they will intensify their agitation for Statehood, Constitutional safeguards etc for the Union Territory of Ladakh in the coming days as the Government of India has not even set up a Committee to talk to them.
Addressing a press conference here as well as talking to Excelsior later, Dorjay said they haven’t received any invitation from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for talks.
“The MHA hasn’t set up even the Committee for talks with us,” Dorjay said.
It may be mentioned here that the LAB and Kargil Democratic Alliance had joined hands for grant of Statehood to Ladakh, Constitutional safeguards, two Lok Sabha and One Rajya Sabha seats and adequate job opportunities.
The Apex Body welcomed recent decision of Leh and Kargil representatives to construct a Buddhist Monastery in Kargil.
It also endorsed Chushul Councillor Konchok Stanzin and Phobrang villagers statement that grazing land has been converted info buffer zone and expressed serious concerns over the issue.
The Apex Body announced that it will form its youth wing to press for safeguard demands strongly.
