SRINAGAR, July 8: The Committee on Estimates of Jammu and Kashmir, Legislative Assembly, today directed the officers of Public Works Department to gear up their field functionaries and speed up the pace of work on all ongoing roads, bridges and other projects in the State and complete them in a time bound manner.
The direction in this regard was issued by the Committee while reviewing the physical and financial achievements registered by the R&B Department at a meeting held under the Chairmanship of Javid Hassan Beigh here.
Legislators, Mubarak Gul, Usman Abdul Majid, Ishfaq Ahmed Sheikh, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Shakti Raj, Dina Nath Bhagat, Raja Manzoor Ahmed, Ramesh Arora and Abdul Rahim Rather attended the meeting and gave their suggestions for further improvement in the functioning of the department besides making the working of the Committee fruitful and result oriented.
Expressing concern over the delay in completion of important projects, the Committee directed the concerned executing agencies to speed up the work on these projects.
Reviewing the status of the ongoing projects including National Highway, Mughal Road, Chenab Valley bridges, besides several major projects taken up under PMGSY, the Committee instructed concerned authorities to work in a coordinated manner to remove impediments hindering speedy execution of the projects. The Committee also reviewed progress of NABARD.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Public Works Department, Rohit Kansal, Secretary (T), Director Planning, PWD, Director ERA, Jammu, Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Kashmir, Chief Engineer PMGSY, R&B Jammu, Chief Engineer Mughal Road and other senior officers.
