JAMMU, Feb 12: A seven-day-long State level exhibition cum sale of products of Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) concluded here today.
The exhibition cum sale was organized by J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board. In all 35 artisans/entrepreneurs put on display their products.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated by Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Raj Kumar Bhagat, on February 6, touched its peak on February 7 (Sunday), as people from all walks of life thronged the place giving a fillip up to the event.
The objective of the exhibition was to preserve and promote traditional handicraft for sustainable livelihood of the poor and marginalized people.
Atisans from far flung areas of the State like Kashmir and other districts of Jammu exhibited their products like Kashmiri embroidery, shawls, suits, chain stitch, crewel embroidery, Basholi pashmina shawls, readymade garments, track suits, food products, home appliances, pickles, soft toys and many more products.
Santosh saraf, Deputy CEO, KVIB, Jammu Division, while speaking on the valedictory function informed that a sale of Rs 9.23 lakh has been recorded during the course of exhibition.
Raising a curtain from the departmental policies, he informed that a National level exhibition, which shall accommodate at least 200 beneficiaries to exhibit their products, is being organized very soon in Kashmir Valley, which shall prove a mega event ever organized in the history of J&K State.
