Kundal resigns from Cong to contest as independent candidate

JAMMU, Nov 13: Former Chief Secretary and Member Legislative Council from Congress Party, B R Kundal today resigned from the Party and declared to contest as independent candidate from R S Pura constituency.
Talking to media-persons here today Mr Kundal, a bureaucrat turned politician, disclosed that he has sent his resignation to the Party president in the State Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz. He declared that many Sarpanchs and Panchs besides thousands of his supporters from R S Pura were not happy with the decision of the party high command on the decision of providing mandate.
Kundal said that many Congress workers along with 24 Sarpanchs from R S Pura who had gone to Delhi to meet AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretary and incharge J&K affairs of the party Ambika Soni besides PCC chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz and even Ghulam Nabi Azad in this connection are feeling cheated. They are very unhappy and upset over the decision. In a special meeting held here the other day, they all resolved to install me as independent candidate from R S Pura and refused to work under the official candidate. The Sarpanchs claimed that they would like to work for a candidate of clean image, good vision and highly qualified. The MLC further said that the Congress leadership had not fulfilled its promises. He was asked to nurture this constituency and start working for next elections but now he is feeling duped. Therefore, due to pressure from his supporters and these developments, he has decided to contest as Independent candidate from R S Pura in coming elections. Many party workers from R S Pura, Sarpanchs and Panchs were also present at the venue.
