KU slips 5 spots in NIRF-2022 rankings, JU up in ladder; IIMJ in top 100

Srinagar, July 15: After having the honor of being counted among the top 50 Universities of the country, the University of Kashmir has this time slipped 5 spots in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking-2022 by figuring at the 53rd rank out of 100 top universities in India while as University of Jammu has improved by gaining 10 spots, securing the 56th rank apart from improving in the overall rankings as well.
As per the rankings-released today by Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan-the University of Kashmir has secured 48.27 points while the University of Jammu got 48.03 points. Earlier, the University of Kashmir had figured at 48th rank in the NIRF-2021 rankings while the University of Jammu was on 66th rank in the list of top 100 Universities in the country.
In the top 100 Universities, the University of Kashmir has secured 60.58 points out of 100 in the parameter of Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), 21.23 points in Research and Professional Practices (RPC), 79.56 points in Graduation Outcome (GO), 51.37 points in Outreach & Inclusive (OI) and 26.65 points in Perception. The parameters are assessed by the Ministry of Education annually which then comes up with the ranking.
Similarly, the University of Jammu has secured 64.90 points in Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), 19.12 points in Research and Professional Practices (RPC), and 74.83 points in Graduation Outcome (GO), 46.63 points in Outreach & Inclusive (OI) and 31.92 points in Perception.
Subsequently, the University of Kashmir has also slipped in the overall rankings as it has figured at 84th rank by scoring 45.98 points while Jammu University has figured at the 93rd rank by securing 45.11 points. In the overall ranking, the University of Kashmir had secured 76th rank in the year 2021, and 78th in 2020, however, in the year 2022, the University has slipped 8 slots, figuring at 84th rank.
On the other hand, while no college and research institution from J&K has figured in the NIRF ranking, in the category of engineering colleges across India, the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar has secured the 66th slot in the top 200 Engineering Colleges of the country with the total score of 45.52 points, which is a gain of 3 slots from the NIRF-2021 rankings. NIT, Srinagar has scored 63.20 points in Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), 19.80 points in Research and Professional Practices (RPC), 64.43 points in Graduation Outcome (GO), 65.87 points in Outreach & Inclusive (OI) and 11.37 points in perception.
In the Management colleges, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu has figured at 36th rank in the top 100 Management colleges in the country by securing 53.58 points while the University of Jammu’s Management School has secured the 100th rank in the same category. In terms of key parameters, IIM Jammu has scored 76.15 points in Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), 10.31 points in Research and Professional Practices (RPC), 84.46 points in Graduation Outcome (GO), 72.67 points in Outreach & Inclusive (OI) and 34.81 points in Perception.
While no other institute has figured in the rankings in Pharmacy, Medical, Dental and Law, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra has figured at the rank 16th in Architecture by scoring 55.75 points. In key parameters, the University has secured 78.78, 19.16, 68.71, 48.31 and 18.43 points respectively.
