JAMMU, June 1: Kashmiri Pandits drawn from various areas of Jammu held a protest demonstration in front of Press Club here and demanded CBI probe into the killing of police cop Sameer Bhat whose disappearance for over last fortnight is a big mystery.
The protestors with banners and placards in their hands also demanded that the culprits responsible for his cold blooded murder be punished under law of the land and the family be provided compensation and all other facilities which a serving cop is entitled to.
They also demanded that the next kin of slain cop be given a Government job as he was the only bread earner of the family.
The protestors also criticized the police authorities for not providing any help to the parents of the slain cop who were staying at Srinagar to find the whereabouts of their son. They were forced to stay in Gurdwara as Police authorities failed to provide accommodation to them.
Meanwhile a delegation of prominent Kashmiri Pandits called on Union Minister, in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh and demanded CBI probe into the matter and immediate tracing out of the body of the slain cop.
The Union Minister also showed his concern over the disappearance of the cop and assured them that all possible steps will be taken to provide justice to the family.
The BJP MLC, Ajay Bharti has also written a letter to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and demanded that the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the cop be solved immediately. He also demanded financial help for the family as Sameer was its only bread earner and it has no other source of the income.
Bharti, while seeking the intervention of Chief Minister said it is astonishing that the police is issuing confusing statements about the disappearance of the cop and changing them from time to time which will complicate the issue. He said there is also a lot of resentment among the KP community regarding the role of police authorities in sudden disappearance of the cop. He demanded that the SPO associating with the cop be interrogated to ascertain the facts.
