NEW DELHI, Aug 27: A delegation of Kashmiri Pandits called on Yoga Guru Baba Ram Dev at his Patanjali Ashram near Hardwar and sought his support in restoration of homeland to over seven lakh displaced Pandits in Valley who are leading an exiled life for last 23 years in different parts of country.
The delegation which was led by Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) chief Kundan Kashmiri while apprising him of the problems of the displaced Pandits alleged that the policies adopted by the Union Government towards the hapless community will lead to their extinction and end of one of the richest Indian cultures on this universe.
Seeking intervention of Yoga Guru the delegation informed him that further delay in solving the Pandits issue will be inimical to national interests in the long run.
The delegation informed him that Kashmiri Pandits are the worst sufferers of the turmoil and the Union Government has failed to frame a concrete policy for their welfare and rehabilitation in their homeland in Kashmir Valley.
The KPs while seeking the support of Baba Ram Dev said that the Government which failed to take the cognizance of their plight to appease the separatists in the Valley for the vote bank politics.
The delegation urged the Yoga Guru to raise the issue of exiled Pandits who have been hounded out from the Valley by terrorists backed by Pakistan and support the struggle of exiled Pandits for restoration of their homeland at each and every fora at national level.
The delegation said that the Pandits who are scattered all over the country are not in a position to live together as a community and there was no concrete policy with the Government of India for their rehabilitation. It alleged that the youth who is most sufferer is in distress as Government has no proper policy for their betterment. The community is unheard and prevailing Central Government policies have compounded its problems further.
