NEW DELHI, Dec 8: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) in a meeting here, today expressed grave concern over the failure of Government in settling the long standing problems of displaced people leading an exiled life for last over 31 years.
Addressing a meeting the KPC president, Kundan Kashmiri said it is strange that the Government of India which took many bold decisions in the country has not taken the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits by carving out a Kashyap State within Valley and it has till date not taken any initiative in the rehabilitation of the exiled Pandits.
Kashmiri said that the community has pinned high hopes in Prime Minister, Narendra Modi but it is unfortunate that during last six years of BJP Government at Centre no attention was paid for return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Kashyap State in Kashmir Valley.
Kashmiri appealed the community organizations to come on a single platform and fight for this cause. He said Kashmiri Pandits are craving for return to their homeland Kashmir and it is high time for the GoI to take concrete steps in this regard by taking the representatives of community into confidence.
He alleged the Government failed to provide attention towards the problems of the exiled Pandits who are the main victims of Pak sponsored terrorism with the result they have lost their faith and confidence in the democratic system of the country. He said it is obligatory for the Government to ensure the resettlement of the displaced Pandits in their homeland with which they have a bonding of thousands of years. He wanted to know how long more they will lead an exiled life and remain delinked from their cultural moorings.
Kashmiri said any further delay on the part of the Government in settling Pandits in Kashyap State will lead to their further alienation. He also demanded immediate constitution of Kashmiri Hindu Shrine Board for protection of places of worship of Hindus in Valley.
