KPC delegation meets RRC, discusses migrants issues

JAMMU, Nov 6: A delegation of Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) led by its president, Kundan Kashmiri and general secretary, Er Tej Pandita called on Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, T K Bhat and discussed the issues of displaced Kashmiri Pandits with him.
The delegation sought information regarding acquisition of land for construction of accommodations for the Package employees and implementation of various schemes launched by Government of India for welfare of the people with him.
The KPC leaders demanded speeding up of the work on construction of quarters in the Valley for package employees who are facing lot of problems due to lack of accommodation facilities. They also demanded that sugar quota be released to migrants and the issue be taken up with higher ups in the Government.
The RRC informed them about the various steps taken by the Government in this regard. They also demanded implementation of various Centrally sponsored schemes on displaced people like Ayushman Bharat, EWS Reservation etc. They were informed by RRC that the case regarding implementation of Ayushman Bharat Scheme for migrants is under the very consideration and in the first instance the relief holders will be brought under its ambit and then the other migrants who fall under the parameters will also be included while for the grant of EWS certificates the orders were already issued.
He also informed the delegation that speedy action is being taken in bifurcation and issuance of State Subject and other certificates by the organisation so that migrants are not put to problem.
The KPC leaders expressed confidence over the steps taken by RRC in making the functioning of the organization more transparent and assured full cooperation to him in this regard.
Later both Kashmiri and Pandita made an appeal to Union Government to take the community into confidence before setting the return and rehabilitation plan into motion and demanded that there should be one place settlement of the community in the Valley. They said the KPC fully supports the Government’s decision in bifurcating the State into two UTs and expressed the hope that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi led Government will also take a bold and dynamic step in rehabilitating the exiled Pandits in their motherland where from they were hounded out by extremist elements over 30 years back. They also demanded constitution of Kashmiri Hindu Shrine Board for protection of shrines in Valley as a confidence building measure prior to return.
