KPC asks Pandits to observe July 13 as Black Day

JAMMU, July 9: Re- calling the horrors of 1931 and bringing to light the dimensions of the first organized violence against the Kashmiri Pandits by the fundamentalist and communal elements under the banner of the Muslim Conference of Kashmir, Kundan Kashmiri President Kashmiri Pandit conference (KPC) demanded that July 31 should not be observed as a Martyrs’ Day.
In a statement issued here today he said on this day KPs were martyred in Kanikote in Budgam,Maharajganj and Vicharnag in Srinagar, Kashmir. To observe July 13 as the Martyrs Day in the State is a grave injustice to the suffering of victims of the communal carnage as the real martyrs.
While addressing KPC Executive at New Delhi today he said July 13  be observed globally by Kashmiri Pandits as “Black Day” .This day in 1931 marks the beginning of the first organized genocide of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir.
He said the present plight of Kashmiri Pandits in exile has a direct link with what happened with the community for hundreds of years in Kashmir.
He also appealed to the community brethren to organize corner meeting in your respective localities to condemn the escalation of human rights violations and atrocities against the KP community at large from time to time. He also asks that we should never forget the atrocities, Killings of our innocent brethren who laid their lives and made their lot of scarifies for the nationhood so observe the Black Day against the black laws on the July 13th this year .
He also said abrogation of Article 370 from the State of J&K and cancellation of holiday which is being observed by the Govt of J&K on the said day should also be the main demands of the KP community on this day
