Kotwal for stepping up campaign for water sanitation

SRINAGAR, May 20: Commissioner/Secretary PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, who is also the Chairman of the Water Sanitation & Support Organization (WSSO), convened a meeting to discuss the functioning and performance of the WSSO here today.
The meeting was attended by Executive Director, Communication & Capacity Development Unit (CCDU), Rajiv Ranjan, Chief Engineers, PHE, Kashmir/Jammu, Muzaffer Lanker and K.K. Gupta, Director Finance, PHE, Mahesh Dass, Joint Director Planning, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Deputy Director Information, Peerzada Zahoor Ahmed and State Coordinator, CCDU, Dr. Narinder Singh Butyal.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues related to the functioning of the Organization. Stress was laid to step up the activities across the State so that the objectives of the Organization are achieved in right perspective. The main thrust was to step up awareness campaign through different media to educate the masses about the water sanitation and water conservation.
Dr. Kotwal directed the Executive Director, CCDU to translate the mandate of WSSO on ground in letter and spirit by ensuring transparency in the functioning of the Organization. He directed to introduce attractive jingles on water conservation with the help of local artists and experts to spread a candid message among the masses. He also called for achieving the targets as per the devised Action Plan for the current financial year.
