REASI, Mar 14: A meeting of the district committee of J&K Kissan Tehreek was held under the chairmanship of Sohan Lal Sharma, here today, for discussing various issues and demands.
The meet expressed its grave concern over non-payment of wages to the labourers engaged under MGNREGA scheme and appealed the District Development Commissioner to take notice of the negligence on part of some officers.
The meet also demanded issuance of Kissan Credit Cards to the farmers, compensation for the wheat crops destroyed in 2009, implementation of Bloeria Committee recommendations and formation of Gram Sabhas to facilitate development works at grass root level.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting, included Abdul Karim, Mangat Ram, Prem Dass, Nand Kishore, Hussan Din, Amar Nath, Kuldip Singh, Rattan Singh, Mohd Gafoor, Suram Chand and others.
