JAMMU, Mar 14: General Administration Department (GAD) today filed compliance report in the encroachment of over 92 kanal State land in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathua district and Division Bench comprising Chief Justice M M Kumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur directed the appellant to file response, if any, within two weeks.
According to the compliance report filed by Additional Secretary GAD Simrandeep Singh, a meeting was convened by the Chief Secretary on March 6, 2013 in which various decisions were taken. In pursuance of the decisions, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Vide Letter No DCK/SQ/2012-13/1660-61 dated March 9, 2013 issued notice to RB Education Trust for selection of land measuring 100 standard kanal as per the ceiling limit prescribed under the Agrarian Reforms Act, 1976.
In compliance to the Deputy Commissioner’s directions, Tehsildar Hiranagar Vide communication No OQ/1211 dated March 9, 2013 mentioned that the land falling in Khasra Nos, 16, 38 and 39 in village Krandi Khurd, tehsil Hiranagar got evicted from the illegal encroachers and land put under Sapurdari of Nambardar and Chowkidar of the concerned village with immediate effect.
After hearing Advocates S S Ahmed and Virender Bhat appearing for the PIL whereas Advocate General MI Qadiri with Senior AAG Gagan Basotra for the State and Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Ravi Abrol appearing for the Ch Lal Singh, Division Bench directed the appellant to file response, if any, within two weeks.
