NEW DELHI, Jan 4 : Kiran Bedi, Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, who is on a visit to the union capital, today called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh and discussed with him wide range of issues pertaining to administration and new initiatives undertaken by her in Puducherry.
Kiran Bedi gave a detailed resume of some of the recent initiatives undertaken by her in Puducherry. She particularly mentioned the progress made in the sanitation drive and anti-encroachment work initiated by her, soon after taking over as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
Extending an invitation to Dr Jitendra Singh to visit Puducherry at his convenience, Kiran Bedi said, the change brought about as a result of the past six months’ efforts will be visible to whoever visits the place. She also referred to a pictorial account prepared by her office, depicting the changes brought about in recent months and categorised as “before and now”.
Dr. Jitendra Singh referred to a proposal from Kiran Bedi for starting a space technology programme at Puducherry. He said, he has conveyed to Chairman ISRO, Kiran Kumar to follow up the same and, if needed, visit Puducherry with his team to explore the possibilities.
Dr Jitendra Singh thanked Kiran Bedi for having spared time to deliver a lecture at Mussoorie’s Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration for Civil Service/IAS officers and said, the probationers there were particularly inspired to hear her.
Dr Jitendra Singh also suggested Kiran Bedi to direct the Delhi based office of Puducherry to do the follow up with his office regarding matters pertaining to the union territory.
