Kidnapped minor girl recovered, accused at large

Srinagar, July 27: Police in Palahallan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla have recovered a minor girl who was kidnapped while the accused in the crime continues to remain at large.
In this regard, Police-Post Palhallan received a written complaint from an individual stating therein that his minor daughter age about 17 years had been kidnapped by unknown person/persons from her home.
“Accordingly, a case FIR No. 225/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Pattan and investigation was initiated,” police said.
Police said that during the investigation, officers investigating the case, utilizing all available means and with strenuous efforts, specific information was generated due to which the team was able to recover the kidnapped girl within 20 hours after the complaint was received.
“However the accused person involved in the commission of crime managed to escape. Preliminary investigation suggests that the girl was kidnapped by Bilal Ahmad Waza son of Mohd Ashraf Waza resident of Palhallan Pattan,” police said, adding that the efforts are on to effect his arrest.
After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, police said that the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs. Investigation into the matter is in progress.
