Kerala demands custom duty hike of rubber

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Dec 4:  Kerala government urged the Centre to increase the customs duty on rubber as the price of rubber has fallen from Rs 223 to Rs 160.
Official sources today said the fall in the price has affected farmers and workers badly.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy also raised this issue when he met
Union Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi.
He said it was necessary to hold the price of rubber in the market. The MPs from Kerala had raised the issue many times, and the state Government had also given a request in this regard many times to the Centre.
