SRINAGAR, Mar 21: In view of COVID-19 threat, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industries has appealed the business community to keep their establishments shut and observe civil curfew till March 31 to save precious lives.
“In request you to humbly keep your factories, offices, hotels and shops without essential commodities shut at least till March 31, 2020 and stay at home and observe complete civil curfew to save precious lives,” said Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad, President of KCCI, in an appeal to the business community.
He feared that the situation could be very frightening if COVID-19 pandemic spreads in India, like it did in China, Iran, America and Europe, which were not able to contain it.
“Keeping in view the prevailing circumstances, I thank that as Kashmir Inc and responsible citizens, it is our moral duty to protect health of our families and the employees working under us,” said the KCCI President and reiterated that the population of over 1.2 crores in J&K would be at high risk if initiatives like civil curfew are not taken on our own as we are not yet fully equipped to control this pandemic.
“I appeal you once again in the interest of society to please ensure stay home stay safe, be heroes of your beloved nation,” he said, while taking a meeting of the senior members and office bearers of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
