JAMMU, June 13: President Apni Trade Union, Ajaz Kazmi demanded compensation for PDD linemen who received severe electric shocks while discharging their duties as frontline warriors during the COVID pandemic and are fighting between death and life in different hospitals of the J&K, here today.
He appealed the Administration to enquire about those employees especially the linemen who have been admitted in different hospitals for their treatment as well as those who lost their lives during the line of duty in this pandemic and compensate them accordingly.
In a statement issued here, Kazmi expressed displeasure over the complete neglect of the linemen by the Department concerned. “They are admitted in the hospitals in severe condition but unfortunately neither any one from the department concerned visited the hospitals to enquire about their well-being, nor help their families with financially,” he said.
He appealed Principal Secretary PDD to issue directions to the concerned authorities, MD JPDC, Chief Engineers PDD and Executive Engineers concerned to visit the hospitals forthwith to enquire about the well being of these frontline warriors and compensate the affected families on priority basis.
