JAMMU, July 27: Speaker Assembly and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta visited Nai Basti, Ashok Nagar and took stock of the damages caused by recent floods and the restoration works being undertaken by various departments.
He was accompanied by Executive engineers of PHE, V K Khajuria,  PDD, Sudhir Gupta,  UEED, Sunil Sharma; AEE, JMC, Gurcharan Singh; CTO, JMC, Talat Mehmood, Vinay Gupta, Jaideep Sharma, Satpal Chowdhary, Ch. Harbans, Er. Ashwani Khosla and other prominent citizens of the area.
Kavinder visited the Nallah which was choked and overflowed causing financial as well as emotional loss to the general public. He was informed by the JMC, UEED and I&FC Department that this happened only because of the slab which is made on the Nallah resulting in blocking and diversion of rain water and moreover prevented the concerned department to complete the de silting work of the same.
Kavinder immediately directed the officials to demolish the slab so that the de silting of the Nallah can be done properly and the people don’t have to suffer in future. Meanwhile he kick started the work for laying of PHE pipes at Nai Basti which was being delayed from so long as the previous MLA didn’t listened to the grievances of the people and they suffered due to the same.
Gupta said that he is always on his feet for addressing the grievances of the residents of Gandhi Nagar and further assured them that all their genuine demands will be fulfilled on priority.
