Kavinder inaugurates MFI office in Jammu

JAMMU: Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, inaugurated the office of Media Federation of India (MFI), at Trikuta Nagar here.

Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, MLC, Charanjeet Singh Khalsa, Special Secretary, Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Mahesh Kumar Singla, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal, IGP Jammu Danish Rana, Vice-Chairman JDA Mubarak Singh besides several officers, media-persons and members of MFI were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta congratulated the MFI for taking the initiative of opening its office in the State which would greatly help in taking care of interests of the media-persons.

The Speaker, while emphasizing the role of media houses in welfare and development arena, exhorted upon the journalists to present a true picture of all happenings in the society so that corrective measures could be taken for a better future.

Zulfkar Ali appreciated the initiative of opening of MFI in the state and said that the media has an important role to play in keeping a check on the system and society. He added that a vibrant media strengthens democracy and takes the nation towards new heights of peace, progress and prosperity. He said media acts as a bridge between people and the administration. He said reporting must be done with professionalism and responsibility to reflect a true picture of the society.

He said keeping in view the sensitivity of the state media role becomes more important. He also said positive propagation of news is necessary as sometimes negative news badly affects tourism in the State.

Speaking on the occasion Charanjeet Singh Khalsa congratulated the MFI for taking the initiative of opening of its office in the State. He said print, electronic and social media play equally important role in our life nowadays and keep us updated and help us to communicate our views and opinions.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Singla stressed upon the media fraternity to ensure objective reporting of the incidents which is the basic ingredient in news formation. He said it is the responsibility of the media to project all issues concerning welfare and development of the society in a professional manner rising above personal affiliations.
