Kavinder assesses damages due to rains

JAMMU, July 16: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today conducted a whirlwind tour of Gandhi Nagar Constituency to assess the damages caused to the private and public infrastructure due to recent rains and flash floods.
Accompanied by Block Development Officer, Satwari, Shahid Mughal, Naib Tehsildar South and a team of officials from Revenue, Rural Development and other concerned departments, Mr. Gupta visited Satwari, Amar Colony Govindpura, Model Village Bhour Block Satwari, Lower Gaddi Garh, Somila Mohalla, and other villages of the area.
He interacted with the families whose structures were damaged due to incessant rains and flash floods and assured them that the Government would provide them adequate compensation.
The Speaker directed the officers to record full details of the damages suffered by each affected family so that their cases are processed for compensation. He assured the people of the area that the administration would extend every help to compensate their losses as the Government is committed for restoration of damages to the public assets and to pay compensation to the affected families.
He said that the Coalition Government has given first priority to restoration of services and repair of public assets, besides rehabilitation of the flood affected people.
Responding to the complaint by the people of Model Village Bhour Satwari about shortage of drinking water and upgradation of nallah, the Speaker issued direction to PHE authorities to ensure regular supply of drinking water and warned for strict action in case of any lapse. He also directed for renovation of nallah in the area at the earliest.
