Kathua police seizes 73 bottles of illicit liquor

KATHUA, June 9 : In continuation to take strict action against the consumption and production of illegal liquor menace in the district, police today recovered 20 liters of illicit liquor at Chack Drab Khan near, here along with 53 bottles of Desi whisky in the jurisdiction of Police Station Billawar and four persons were arrested.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Vijay Kumar SHO, PS Kathua under the Supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal during patrolling duty near Chack Drab Khan, Kathua apprehended three suspects namely Neetu Bala wife of Swaran Kumar, Reya Devi wife of Rakesh Kumar, Jyoti Bala wife of Parshotam Lal all residents of Chack Drab Khan, Kathua. On their physical checking, approximately 20 liters of illicit liquor was recovered from their possession. A case vide FIR Number 283/2021 u/s 48 (A) Excise Act was registered at PS Kathua and further investigation has been initiated.
While in another case a police team of Police Post (PP), Ramkot led by Inspector, Gurvinder Singh in charge, PP Ramkot during patrolling duty near Kandharnu, Ramkot apprehended one suspect namely Narinder Kumar son of Krishan Chand of Ramkot. During checking, 50 bottles of Desi whisky of 180ml each and three bottles of 750ml each were recovered from his vehicle (Alto Car) bearing Registration Number JK08K-1255. Meanwhile all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor along with vehicle was seized. In this regard, a case FIR No 89/2021 u/s 48(a) Excise Act stands registered at PS Billawar and investigation taken up.
