Kathua police seizes 182 pouches of liquor, rescues 4 bovine animals

KATHUA, Apr 28: Kathua Police today seized 182 pouches of Indian made liquor during a raid at Ward No 3 near Happy Palace Kathua and nabbed four bootleggers.
Police said in continuation of its drive to nab the persons indulging in smuggling of illicit liquor, a Police party of PS Kathua headed by Inspector Anil Kumar Sharma, SHO under the supervision of S S Sambyal, Dy SP Headquarters acting on a specific information laid a naka at Ward No 3 near Happy Palace Kathua and arrested four bootleggers for carrying 50, 43, 45 and 44 pouches of Indian made liquor.
The arrested persons were identified as Avtar Singh, S/o Dayal Singh of Ward No 6 Kathua, Romal Singh, S/o Jassi Ram of Sawla tehsil Kathua, Ludder Singh, S/o Harnam Singh, of Bhed Balod and Jarmez Chand S/o Labbu Ram of Dolian Tehsil Marheen.
Police said a case FIR No 134/2017 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act stands registered against them at police Station Kathua and investigation is in progress.
The drive was launched under the directives of SSP Kathua, Pawan Parihar.
Meanwhile, Hiranagar Police has rescued four bovine animals during the patrolling at National Highway today who were being smuggled in a truck bearing Registration Number JK08E -0450 which was on way from Punjab towards Kashmir.
A police party of PS Hiranagar led by SI Anand Dutta under the supervision of SHO Hiranagar and SDPO Border and on the directives of SSP Kathua during patrolling at NH tried to intercept the Mahindra load carrier. Seeing police the driver accelerated the speed of vehicle and managed to flee from the spot. But police chased the vehicle and intercepted it Kootah Morh. However the driver managed to escape leaving the vehicle behind. The four bovine animals were rescued and a Case FIR No 45/2017 U/S 188 RPC, 3 PC Act stands registered at P/S Hiranagar and investigation into the matter is in progress to nab the bovine smugglers.
