The Lecture was delivered by Dr Kamal K Kapoor, an eminent Professor of Chemistry from Jammu University who gave a power point presentation and dealt at length the basic as well as applied aspects of the topic.
He made the students aware about the use of NMR spectroscopy in Organic Chemistry for determining the structure of organic compounds and its applicability in other fields of sciences particularly in medical sciences. He discussed with the students the basic principle, flipping of protons in an applied magnetic field, recording of NMR spectra and their interpretation by taking into consideration the chemical shift values and the splitting pattern of signals in the spectrum.
Dr Nater Singh Raina, Principal of the College, who was the chief guest on the occasion stressed the students to study the subject of chemistry with interest and dedication and encouraged for organizing more Lectures of this type for the benefit of the students.
