Kathua Campus organizes 2-day National Conference on “Business Dynamics: Contemporary Issues and Challenges”

JAMMU, Mar 21: The Management School, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu in association with National HRD Network and J&K Bank, organized a 2-day National Conference on “Business Dynamics: Contemporary Issues and Challenges”, here today.
Abdul Hamid Banday, Executive President, J&K Bank Ltd., was the chief guest during the Inaugural Session. He congratulated The Management School, Kathua Campus for organizing an event of this stature which provides a forum for discussion and bringing together the diversity of opinion, knowledge and practice on contemporary business issues of utmost relevance.
He appreciated the efforts of Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus and President, Jammu Chapter, NHRD Network, for inviting renowned speakers from industry and academia, who would deliberate upon the significance of operating in the turbulent and volatile business environment with flexibility and consequently encashing the opportunities arising thereof.
In his address, he discussed the relevance of understanding the current business environment comprising of competition, rapid pace of technology changes, high attrition rates, etc., which generates the ability to foresee emerging challenges and harnessing opportunities from such environment.
Prof. Ashok Ogra, Director, Apeejay School of Mass Communication, New Delhi provided insightful views into the transition that has taken place in the minds of the people of the country over the years and the kind of leap that it has taken. By using corporate examples of Haldiram, McDonalds, Lifebuoy, Airtel, Coca Cola, Tata Swach, he conveyed that the real ambassadors of the brands today are metaphoric for ‘people’. He also reflected upon the shift from ‘think global – act local’ which was the language of 20th century marketing to ‘think global- think local’ reflecting upon the 21st century business dynamics.
P Dwarakanath, Director- Group Human Capital, MAX India, New Delhi, in his keynote address, complimented for the choice of topic of this Conference for it to be relevant and contextually appropriate in this flat world. He discussed the role and significance of human capital as an asset for any organization which acts as a competitive advantage who truly makes the most of this asset. He also talked about the key business challenges to be innovation, people, growth and  profits, governance and ethics and stakeholder’s expectations’.
D.K. Bakshi, Chief Mentor & CEO, Global Talent Consultants Company Ltd. Bangkok, Thailand and Kamal Singh, Director General, NHRD Network, were the special guests on the occasion. Mr Bakshi emphasized on creating space and respect for Indian managers in the global world. Kamal Singh, Director General, NHRDN complimented Kathua Campus and Prof. Rohmetra for reviving the Jammu Chapter, NHRD Network and promised all support to the Chapter and Jammu University.
Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus and President, Jammu Chapter, NHRD Network, and the Conference Convener delivering the Welcome Address, informed that this is a maiden national event of the Kathua Campus and is also a milestone for the Management School, to bring to its doorsteps the top names in industry and academia in association with NHRD Network. She emphasized that business of business is to keep dynamics alive through raising of issues and combating challenges, hence the Conference theme was identified.
Prof. Desh Bandhu Gupta, Dean Business Studies and Director, Colleges Development Council, University of Jammu, presented the concluding remarks.
A Book of Abstracts as well as the Placement Brochure of The Management School, Kathua Campus were released on the occasion.
Prof. Keshav Sharma, Controller of Examinations, Prof. B.C. Sharma, Dean Students Placement, University of Jammu, delegates from across the country, faculty, research scholars and students were present at the inaugural session.
The inaugural session was followed by three Keynote Panels on  the theme ‘Diversity and Cross Cultural Management’, Corporate Social Responsibility, IPR Issues and Entrepreneurship Management.
Sonali Dua, Vice President, Deloitte US India Consulting, New Delhi, one of the key panelists  suggested to  accept diversity and behave globally. She said that it is necessary for us to bring integrity and flexibility into our systems to accept diversity.
Dhananjay Singh, Executive Director, NHRDN, spoke about the revolution that has taken place from the year 1498 to 2014.
Gulshan Sharma, President, Chadigarh Chapter, NHRDN, another Keynote Panelist spoke on ethics and governance.
Technical session on corporate governance, ethics and corporate social responsibility was conducted by Professor B.C Sharma, Dean Students’ Placement, University of Jammu and secretary Jammu Chapter, NHRDN. The keynote speakers were Rajan Dutta, President – Corporate HR at Reliance communications, D.K Bakshi, Chief Mentor and CEO, Global Talent Consultants, Shakun Khanna, Executive Consultant, IBM New Delhi and Annil Suri, Chairman Federation of Industries.
