SRINAGAR, Sept 13: Former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that phrases used first by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and now by Home Minister Rajnath Singh can’t heal the wounds of Kashmiris but the actions of the Central Government on Article 35- A and internal dialogue with the separatist leadership followed by external dialogue with Pakistan are the only two ways left for restoring peace and political stability in the State.
Asking Home Minister Rajnath Singh to file a counter affidavit on Article 35- A petitions in the Supreme Court of the country, Vakil said so for actions of successive Central Governments have only hurt Kashmiris and now is the time for Home Minister Rajnath Singh to translate his words in actions. He said without filing a counter affidavit on Article 35-A petitions in the Supreme Court of the country, the people of Jammu & Kashmir can’t believe the words of Rajnath Singh keeping in view the betrayals of the past.
Reacting to the `Five- C’ formulla of Rajnath Singh, Vakil said even this year the killing of the civilians in the encounters is a pointer to the fact that compassion is not the way of working for Government forces combating militancy and stone pelting in Kashmir.
Saying that Government is fighting stones and guns without addressing the wounds caused by the guns and stone, Vakil called upon the Union Home Minister to start unconditional dialogue internally with the separatist leadership and externally with Government of Pakistan.
He said hostile actions from Pakistan should not stop India from resuming dialogue with that country as dialogue with Pakistan is the mother of resolution of all conflicts in the troubled State.
