Kashmiri migrants’ delegation calls on CEO, submits memorandum

JAMMU, Feb 25: A deputation of Kashmiri migrants led by chairman of Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha, Er. Ramesh Chander Mahajan called on Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K at Rail Head Complex here and submitted a memorandum to him highlighting some demands of the migrants.
The memorandum demanded immediate installation of current EPIC card printing machine at Migrants Election Office and all the Zonal Relief Camp offices of Jammu, Delhi and other places. It also appealed to give direction to all concerned district, block level officers of Kashmir Valley for issuance of pending EPIC cards and demanded for electoral /voter list of migrants must be translated from Urdu to English.
The memorandum further demanded abolition of M or MPB forms which has created hurdles for migrant voters in filing formalities through the system and migrant voters be brought at par with others so that maximum participation of the migrants be ensured through EVMs in their respective polling stations or through online voting system.
The memorandum also demanded that Kashmiri migrants be declared as internally displaced people and given political reservation on five seats in the Assembly and one each in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
