Kashmiri Khatri Maha Sabha holds protest

JAMMU, Feb 8:A protest by Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha was held at Durga Nagar near here, today under the chairmanship of its president, Er Ramesh Chander Mahajan, in which members expressed lot of resentment against the Government for its failure to redress the long pending genuine demands of Kashmiri migrants.
They demanded enhancement of the monthly cash relief with free medical aid, restoration of all migrant properties illegally encroached in Valley and fully implementation of J&K Migrants Immovable Property (Preservation Protection and Restrain of Distress Sale Act ) 1997 with empowering of competent authority to prepare the details of all immovable property and to evict unauthorized occupants.
Besides, they demanded preparation of a detailed data of all properties left behind in 1989 for assessment of losses due to mass migration, damaged, demolished, looted ,arson, destroyed by floods and snowfall , dilapidated condition of structures of houses, trees, orchards and agricultural land , cowshed, Kothar, shops, business and SSI units, temples, shrines, Dharamshallas and cremation grounds etc and encroachers must be liable to pay rent charges along with penalties and compensation coverage of all damage, looted and demolished assets since 1989.
They said also directions be given to DCs for providing justice to migrants who are unnecessarily involved under legal battle from long period and their pending cases be referred from Kashmir to Jammu or Delhi or other States as migrants and relief holders are already under financial crunch and not in a position to visit regularly and bear the legal battle trails of DCs office and courts in valley.
The meeting said the Power of Attorney should not to be considered legal forever by maintaining status quos of the property besides declaring the distress sale null and void, release of all compensation insurances and ex-gratia since 1989 in favour of all migrants properties owner ,traders agriculturists and farmers etc.
It also demanded sanction of additional 35000 posts in various departments in lieu of 25000 migrants retired posts and providing of avenues of livelihood to over aged migrants under Prime Minister’s self employment economic and skill development packages with one time compensation of Rs 25 lakh.
