Karnataka crisis: Mayawati accuses BJP of horse-trading

LUCKNOW, July 11:
Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of horse-trading in the states of Karnataka and Goa, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Thursday said the way in which the BJP was poaching legislators by misusing wealth and power was tarnishing the democracy of the nation.
In a tweet, Ms Mayawati said, “The BJP returned to power at the Centre through ‘EVM malfunctions’ and ‘power of wealth’ but is now venting its frustration of losing Assembly elections in various states by bringing down non-BJP governments, which the BSP strongly condemns.”
Coming down heavily on the saffron party, the BSP president said the time has come for a strict anti-defection law to be put into place. (PTI)
