Kargil Advocates seek cancellation of Distt Judge post exams

KARGIL, Apr 20: Some practicing advocates and applicants for the post of District Judges (Direct Recruitment) from Kargil district today urged the Registrar General of J&K High Court to cancel the examination scheduled to be held on April 23 and 24 and issue fresh date in view of closure of Srinagar-Leh National Highway.
In a letter addressed to Registrar General, the applicants, who are practicing Advocates at Kargil, said that Government had announced that Srinagar-Leh National Highway would be opened for traffic on April 20 as such they had decided to proceed to Srinagar on this date.
Today, when the applicants went to Drass for onward journey to Srinagar the authorities did not allow them keeping in view closure of the road due to fresh snowfall. “The tickets from Leh are also not available at this time and the Army service from Jammu to Kargil and Srinagar to Kargil has also been suspended by the Air Force for few days due to bad weather condition”, they further said.
“We have no other means by which we would be able to reach Jammu on April 23 for appearing in the examination”, they said and urged the Registrar General of the High Court to cancel the examination scheduled to be held on April 23 and 24 and announce fresh date.
