Kafeel elevated to Cabinet rank

JAMMU, Jan 17: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today elevated NC leader and party MLA from Karnah, Kafeel-ur-Rehman, who had been appointed as vice chairman of Pahari Advisory Board, to the Cabinet rank.
Kafeel, a third time MLA from Karnah, had refused to take assume the office after his appointment on January 15, on the ground that second and first time MLAs have been made Ministers of State with Independent charge.
Moreover, Kafeel had earlier also served as MoS in his capacity as vice chairman of Pahari Board over 10 years back.
Official sources said Omar called Kafeel to his office and ordered his elevation to the rank of Cabinet Minister after which the MLA expressed thanks to the Chief Minister and decided to assume the charge.
Sources said one post in the Cabinet rank had become available after the resignation of Advisor to Chief Minister Mubarak Gul.
However, another NC leader Radhey Shyam Sharma, MLA Nowshera, who had been appointed vice chairman of Kissan Welfare and Advisory Board with MoS status, has also not assumed his office.
