JAMMU, Mar 16: An emergency meeting of Jammu Welfare Organization (JWO) Executive Body unit Roop Nagar Bantalab, Barnai, Swaran Vihar , Police Colony, Durga Nagar, Roop Nagar, Muthi, Buta Nagar and other adjoining units was held here today under the leadership of Kasturi Lal Gupta its president in which grave concern was expressed over the deletion of names from voter lists in Ward 64 and other newly created nine wards of Jammu.
The meeting said that the maximum names which figured in 2012 voter lists have been deleted at present and it has led to a public resentment in the entire belt.
The meeting said in Ward 64 over 1200 voters which would have become eligible this time don’t figure in the voter lists. All the members of the organization have taken serious view of the injustice meted out to the voters in these nine wards in general and Ward 64 in particular.
They demanded that voter lists of 2012 be made available and after proper scrutiny the addition and deletion be made in them otherwise there will be no fun of holding the Municipal elections when the majority of the people living in these wards will be deprived of their right to vote and be part of developmental process.
The meeting warned agitation incase the voter lists of 2012 are not made available. The meeting has also sought immediate attention of Governor N N Vohra in the matter.
