JAMMU, Feb 23: A one day Induction cum Orientation programme of DCPOs was held by Jammu and Kashmir Integrated Child Protection Services (JKICPS) in Jammu for the officials of Child Protection Services of Jammu Division.
Justice Hassnain Masoodi (Chairperson SCOC), the chief guest on the occasion, in his inaugural address threw light on the role of DCPOs in the Juvenile Justice System in coordination with other stakeholders. He stressed upon the participants to work together for restoration of the child rights as guaranteed in the Constitution.
He also highlighted the contribution of DC Rajouri, DC Kuthwa, DCPO Reasi and also Child Welfare Committee Jammu in carrying forward the mission of Juvenile Justice System.
He also stressed on proactive approach on part of all the officers in expediting the process of elimination of child abuse, child labour, child begging and child trafficking.
GA Sofi, Mission Director ICPS and Chairman CRC was of the opinion that the mechanisms at district level will prove vibrant under the dynamic leadership of district offices who have recently been posted as District Child Protection Officers by the Govt.
He stressed on the need of District Needs Assessment, monitoring of institutions and also for providing immediate benefits for sponsorship schemes for children in need of care and protection.
He also urged upon the officers of DCPOs to provide full support to CWC and JJB and also the other Organizations.
Rajiv Khajuria, Member SCOC and Dr Mohammad Hussain, Administrative Officer JKICPS briefed through a Power Point presentation about Child protection and JJ Act in the state and its implementation, structures and their roles.
The others officials present were the District Child Protection Officers of Jammu division, resource person Iqbal Bhatt from Central University of Jammu and. Rahul Raj Sharma from Save the Children, who deliberated on Child Protection Services and the role of DCPOs in detail and shared some of the best practices prevalent around the country.
