JAMMU, Oct 12: Jammu University has re-constituted the Internal Complaint Committee Against Sexual Harassment (JUICCASH) for a triennial period.
As per a notification in this regard, issued today, Prof Namrata Sharma from the Department of Botany has been nominated as Presiding Officer of the committee.
Other members of the committee are Dr Tarsem Lal (Department Commerce), Dr Bindu Sangra (The Law School), Usha Kumari (Asstt Registrar), Sonika Sharma (Professional Assistant), Dyutima Kesar (Ph D Scholar from Department of Education), Chandan Kotwal (Semester-II students in the PD Department of Economy), Ishta Bhandral (Semester 4th students of The Law School) and Purnima Chowdhary as member from amongst NGOs committed to the cause of women.
One third of the members of the committee shall change every year, reads the notification, issued by Registrar JU on the instruction of Vice-Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai.
Pertinent to mention that the earlier JUICCASH was dissolved on the demand of Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA) following death of Prof Chandra Shekhar, who had committed suicide by hanging immediately after his suspension on the charges of sexual harassment by a scholar.
