JAMMU, Jan 31: Written by eminent writer Sadaket Malik, a book on Bhalessa- its culture, education, history and tourism and language, was released today by Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor (VC), University of Jammu (JU).
The book has been written by the author to focus on multiple aspects of Bhalessa (Doda). The book titled “Bhalessa- cultural history and heritage” consists of eight nostalgic chapters and is a remarkable piece of work. It gives an insight into the area. The best part of the book is that all claims and beliefs of the author are supported with proof, tables, classification and justifications.
The chapter “culture” will stimulate one to know more and more about the region. It introduces the reader to various dialects and languages spoken there, and also to various festivals like Kod, Pounayo, Konchochoth, Bason and Rang that are celebrated there, besides Madersa reforms and unidentified tourism sites. There are no words to explain Bhalessa’s versatile culture; the book has done justice to the subject.
The book has been forwarded by Rafiq Masoodi, Ex ADG Doordarshan and Ex-Secretary, J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages. The book has a focus on the two sub-dialects of Bhalesi that comprised of Bhalessa, one spoken in the South, the centre of which is the village Kilhotran Changa, the other spoken in the North, the centre of which is the village Jakyas.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor said that the author has put in superlative efforts for the popularization of composite cultural, heritage, local languages and unexplored areas like Bhalessa in Doda. Prof Dhar laid stress on the promotion of composite cultural heritage.
The book release function was attended by Aseer Kishtwari (Sahitya Academy Awardee), eminent journalist Sohail Kazmi, Dr Imran Farooq (PRO to VC), eminent poet Fozia Naseem Mughal, Dr Rahul Kait and Dr Ashiq Hussain.
