JAMMU, Jan 8: Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma today released the brochure for forthcoming Inter-University Zonal Youth Festivals, to be hosted by JU under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, and the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, from January 15 to January 19.
The brochure contains detailed information with regard to the various venues, facilities and schedule of the five day youth festival.
The Vice-Chancellor advocated that the Universities should encourage all students to participate in cultural and sports activities so that their hidden talent could be recognized. He called upon the university officials to put in their best efforts to make the forth coming youth festival a grand success. “These types of festivals not only utilize the energy of youth for constructive purposes, but also remind them about their rich cultural heritage,” Prof Sharma said.
During this festival of Music, Dance, Drama, Theater, Fine art and Literary activities, 25 events will be organized in a competitive mode. Around 1000 participants from 25-30 Universities of seven States of North India are expected to take part in this mega event.
The different events will be organized in all the auditoriums and seminar halls of the University of Jammu.
Among others, Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Prof Pankaj Srivastava, Prof Parmeshwari, Jai Kumar Sharma, Prof Parikshat Manhas, Ranjeet Kalra, Vinay Thusoo and Scintilla were also present on the occasion.
