JAMMU, Aug 29: Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, today organized an Induction Programme- 2016 for newly admitted students of JU.
Justice Permod Kohli, Chairman, Central Administrative Tribunal, was chief guest on the occasion whereas Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu was the guest of honour. Both the dignitaries are the luminous alumni of the University of Jammu. Prof R D Sharma, JU VC, presided over the function, which was attended by newly admitted students, distinguished achievers, faculty members and others.
Justice Permod Kohli advised the students to work hard in order to achieve success in life as there is no substitute of hard work and determination. “It is the students who have to decided how to make living or how to live and the option has to be wisely chosen by them”, he added.
Prof R D Sharma stressed on inculcating the Qualities of 3C’s i.e Character, Competence and Commitment, which he said are very important in an individual to achieve success in any field.
In his address, Simrandeep Singh urged students to be disciplined and punctual and also to strive for being original, unique and hard working as the way towards success gets easy when you tread on the vehicle of integrity.
The purpose of organizing the programme was to apprise the newly admitted students about the University functioning, rules, regulations, guidelines and the facilities provided to them so that they get aware of the ambience and also to avail maximum benefit of the time they spent in University.
Earlier, Dean Students Welfare, Prof Satnam Kour dwelt on the various aspects and salient features, central facilities and support system of JU through a Power Point presentation.
Prof Poonam Dhawan, DAA and Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Chairman Campus Culture Committee, also apprised the students about different areas of functioning of the University.
An encouraging aspect of this programme was the Felicitation of the Students of University of Jammu who have achieved rare distinction in their respective careers during the year 2015-16
