JAMMU, Dec 19: Continuing their token protest for the sixth consecutive day, Jammu University Non-Teaching employees suspended work for two hours and held a strong demonstration in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat, here today.
The employees, under the banner of Non-Teaching Employees Union, JU, are protesting against non fulfillment of their long pending demanding. Amidst raising of slogans, the agitating executive appealed the Vice-Chancellor to consider their genuine demands and also threatened to intensify the struggle if no action is taken on their issues.
Speakers on the occasion highlighted the demands, which included creation of Posts, fully computerization of Administration and Accounts sections, re-designation of technical and isolated categories, removal of pay anomalies etc. They alleged that some negative elements in the JU administration were misleading the Vice-Chancellor over their genuine demands and thus creating trouble on the campus for their vested interests.
The demonstration was addressed by the union president Pawan Singh, Ashwani Bakshi (vice president), Sham Sharma (general secretary), Sanjeev Chadha (Jt secretary), Vikas Langer, Abhinav Sharma, Niranjan Singh Charak, Joginder Singh,  Kewal Kumar, Padam Shri Padamani, Sunita Amla,  and Jasjeet Singh.
Later, the agitating employees also took out a protest march on the campus and vowed to continue their struggle to a logical conclusion.
