JAMMU, June 4: National Secular Forum (NSF) today alleged that the Jammu University authorities made mockery of the system as they adopted criteria for screening and interview for different posts of Assistant Professors in most arbitrary and unjust manner to benefit their blue eyed leaving the aspiring candidates in huff.
Addressing a press conference, here today, NSF chief, Dr Vikas Sharma alleged that the university authorities were playing with the career of applicants who have applied for various posts of Assistant Professors in Jammu University. “In order to benefit their blue eyed candidates, criteria for Screening and Interview has been framed as per whims and fancies of the person at top position in Jammu University,” he added.
While elaborating, Dr Vikas explained that as per JU authorities, they have adopted the criteria being followed by University of Kashmir for the purpose of screening the candidates vide Syndicate Item No. 111.53 dated 13-02-2017. However, he added, JU didn’t adopt the KU criteria in toto and the weightage accorded in Academic Record Performance was discriminatory as same set of number have been allotted to PhD, M Phil and NET qualified candidates whereas more weightage was required to be given to Ph D holders i.e. more than NET and M Phil holders. “Had the criteria of Kashmir University been adopted in toto there would have been complete reshuffle of the screened candidates,” he said.
The NSF president demanded inquiry into this whole gimmickry so as to save the career of several bright candidates who excelled in studies right from the beginning and have the potential to contribute in teaching and research at highest level.
Papinder Singh, Anshu Sharma and Rahul Sharma were also present in the press conference.
