JU, KU Teachers Association Presidents discuss bilateral issues

JAMMU, Mar 1: Presidents of Kashmir University Teachers Association, Dr Muheet Ahmed Butt and Jammu University Teachers Association, Prof Neeru Sharma held a detailed discussion on several bilateral issues pertaining to the faculty members of their respective universities.
It was decided to continue to work together on issues of common interest of the faculty members of both the universities and raise them with the Government from a common platform, as and when needed. Both the Presidents pledged to have better coordination and collaboration with a view to get their genuine grievances and issues resolved in a timely manner, especially the issue of delay in convening important meetings of the highest decision making bodies of the two universities owing to the pending amendment in statues of both the universities, raising the age of superannuation of faculty members from 62 to 65 years, implementation of UGC guidelines on promotion of teachers in true spirit and bringing all the pending promotions to a logical conclusion within the given time frame.
Dr Muheet Ahmed informed Prof Neeru Sharma about the ongoing process of election of new KUTA Executive Committee at the University of Kashmir. He expressed hope that new Executive Committee will continue to foster stronger ties and collaboration with JUTA, SSTA of SKUAST-Jammu and SKUAST-Kashmir besides Teachers Associations of IUST and two Central Universities. Prof Neeru also pledged to extend full cooperation in all such endeavors.
