JU gets RuTAG Chapter

JAMMU, Dec 4: University of Jammu has achieved a unique distinction across the country to be the first varsity having the Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG) Chapter.
The decision of establishing a RuTAG chapter at the University of Jammu was today announced at the concluding session of the two day’s Rural Technology Action Group (RuTAG) meet, organized by the office of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA), Government of India, New Delhi.
This is for the first time that the state of Jammu and Kashmir is having this Chapter. So far RuTAG has been established in seven IITs of the country.
Prof R D Sharma, JU Vice Chancellor, Prof I A Hamal, Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, Prof. Tej Pratap, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST Kashmir, Rakesh K Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Governor J&K, S Chatterjee, Scientific Consultant, Dr Ketaki Bapat , Dr S P Kimothi, ADG, ICAR, Prof S K Saha, IIT Delhi attended the meeting.
Speaking on the final day of the meet, the Scientific Consultant to PSA, Govt of India, S Chaterjee announced that University of Jammu will host a RuTAG Chapter for identifying expertise and finalizing the proposed project proposals requiring technology interventions for harnessing their potential with economic viability. He further disclosed that Research Advisory Committee of RuTAG chapter will associate with Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi to see the veracity of innovative projects where modern scientific technology can be used for refining them.
