JU committee to enquire into incident of clash

JAMMU, Sept 19:  A day after violent clash on the campus between two groups, the Jammu University today constituted a four-member committee to enquire into the incident and submit its report within two days.
Headed by Prof Geeta Sumbali, the committee comprises of Professor Pankaj Srivastava, Professor Parmil Kumar and Professor Kulwant Singh.
The committee will enquire into yesterday’s incident of violent clash between the activists of NSUI and ABVP over the fixing of poster on a wall at Law School in the run up to the upcoming first-ever Students Union elections.
Meanwhile, activists of NSUI, NCSU, PRSU and GBSF held a protest in Jammu University seeking action against the ABVP activists, who were allegedly involved in yesterday’s incident.
The protesting students alleged that JU administration and Police were favoring accused ABVP activists on the influence of some BJP Ministers.
While addressing the protest demonstration, NSUI State president Neeraj Kundal alleged that JU administration and JKP adopted biased approach in dealing with the yesterday’s incident. “Even as a written complaint was submitted to JU, JKP did not register FIR against ABVP goons,” he added and warned more aggressively protests on this issue if no action is taken against ABVP activists.
