JAMMU, Aug 1: A meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) was held at Jagti township Nagrota near here, today under the chairmanship of its president, Shadi Lal Pandita.
Addressing the meeting Pandita announced suspension of protest -dharna from July 31 to October 5. He said that JTC and SKF activists protested for 640 days to fulfill the demands of the community but the Government has not fulfilled them till date .Pandita said if the Government does not fulfill the demands of the community the JTC and SKF will start protest sit-in again from October 6 this year.
The members are demanding enhancement of monthly cash relief of relief holders from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 for per family, establishing three townships in Kashmir valley for rehabilitation of 50,000 displaced Pandit families and immediate construction of 6000 flats for the employees.
The members also demanded a new package of 20,000 jobs for Kashmiri Pandit migrant unemployed youth , compensation for the property loss of last 32 years, release of pending Ex-gratia relief of gutted houses, compensation for over aged youth, removal of encroachments on migrants land, properties and religious places in Kashmir Valley and political reservation of five Assembly seats and three Parliamentary seats for Kashmiri Pandits with minority status.
